Edou Muhima

Edou Muhima leads Human Resources; Linguistic Services and Publishing; Procurement; Facilities, Travel and Conference Services at WMO.

 Mr Muhima brings to WMO over 20 years of international experience in people management, operations leadership and programme support across Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe. 

Prior to joining WMO in March 2026, he held several senior roles within the United Nations system and international Non-Governmental Organizations:

  • UNICEF: Served as Chief of Field Strategy and Technical Support at the Istanbul Headquarters outpost, Deputy Representative – Operations in Haiti, Lead Human Resources Business Partner for management functions in New York, and Human Resources Manager in Chad.
  • World Vision International: Served as Country Director in the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) and Organizational Development Manager in Indonesia.
  • Save the Children and Oxfam: Emergencies Administration Manager in Niger and Country Human Resources Advisor in Chad.
Having responded to critical emergencies including the Food crisis in Niger, the flooding in the Lao DPR following Severe Tropical Storm Nock-ten (2011), the Haiti earthquake, and the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami (2004) Mr. Muhima’s move to WMO leverages his deep field experience to help mitigate disaster risks through advancements in weather, water and climate science.
Throughout his career, he has successfully managed multiple organizational change and efficiency initiatives, transforming administrative and operational functions into strategically aligned, value-adding services.
Mr. Muhima holds a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Western Carolina University and various professional certifications in organizational development, procurement, operations leadership, and programme management.
An avid sportsman, he is a dedicated supporter of the Democratic Republic of Congo's football club Tout Puissant Mazembe, often echoing the fans’ sentiment: “Vous pouvez jouer  – mais cette coupe est à nous” (You can play – but this cup is ours).
