Daniel Medeiros Moreira

SGB Cartographic Engineer

Daniel Moreira is a Cartographic Engineer at the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB), with a Ph.D. from COPPE/UFRJ and the University of Toulouse III. At SGB, he currently leads, in partnership with IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement), a research project on the use of artificial satellites for hydrological monitoring. Since 2016, he has been part of the scientific team of the SWOT (Surface Water and Ocean Topography) satellite mission by NASA/CNES, co-leading the research project SAMBA – SWOT for the Amazon Basin.
