Kevin Horsburgh

Professor Kevin Horsburgh is the Climate Science Lead at the Green Climate Fund (GCF) where he leads a network of experts to strengthen the climate impact of GCF investment programming, strategic planning, and policies. He is responsible for ensuring that the latest climate science and knowledge is incorporated into the development of projects and programmes, to accelerate low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways for developing countries. Kevin works closely with the global expert community to ensure that GCF stakeholders have access to the climate science information, tools, guidance, and training needed to enhance climate action. Kevin has over 25 years of experience in modelling the impacts of climate change, ocean numerical prediction, and developing multi-hazard warning systems, and has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers on coastal flood hazards and extreme sea levels. Kevin holds a PhD from the University of Bangor and is a Visiting Professor at the University of East Anglia. He is a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the WCRP Regional Information for Society (RIfS) core project.
