COPE Disaster Champions, in collaboration with SUSS, is thrilled to announce the official launch of a new interactive learning platform hosted on SUSS UniLEARN. The platform will be unveiled during the side event “Empowering Women, Children, and Indigenous Peoples through Inclusive Early Warning Systems and Climate Services” at COP30 in Brazil on November 17. This event is organized by the World Meteorological Organization.
This innovative partnership brings the COPE Disaster Series to life through a collection of animated, interactive eBooks, featuring animation, music, narration, and interactive quizzes designed to captivate young readers while deepening their understanding of disaster preparedness and climate resilience.
Over the past decade, the COPE Disaster Series has reached more than 3 million children across 23 languages, teaching them how to respond to hazards such as floods, landslides, and heatwaves. Now, through SUSS UniLEARN, these stories take on a new digital dimension, allowing learners to step into the world of the COPE Squad and engage with their adventures in a dynamic, immersive way.
“At SUSS, we believe that accessible, purposeful learning can transform lives and communities globally," said Professor Gabriel Gervais, Director of Online Learning at SUSS. “Our partnership with COPE allows us to combine SUSS’ expertise in inclusive digital learning with COPE’s powerful narratives, creating an engaging platform that equips children with life-saving knowledge. By harnessing technology and storytelling, we hope to inspire a new generation of resilient, climate-aware young learners worldwide.”
“A huge thank you to SUSS for taking on this venture through these brilliant interactive eBooks,” said Martha Keswick, Author and Creator of the COPE Series. “They bring the COPE Squad to life and will give young learners all over the world a strong sense of disaster preparedness.”
This collaboration marks an important milestone in COPE’s mission to provide free, accessible, and compelling educational materials to children everywhere. Together, SUSS and COPE are championing creativity, inclusivity, and innovation in disaster risk reduction education while empowering young minds to understand, prepare for, and respond to a changing climate.
