The Expert Team on Atmospheric Composition Prediction System (ET-ACPS) is responsible for the scientific and technical coordination of atmospheric composition activities, with the aim of further advancing the WMO Integrated Processing and Prediction System (WIPPS), including the functions and products of relevant WIPPS Designated Centres.

The meeting of ET-ACPS will deliberate on the deliverables for the fourth session of the Commission for Observation, Infrastructure and Information Systems (INFCOM-4), including the compliance review of RSMCs for Atmospheric Sand and Dust Storm Forecasts (ASDF), as well as proposed amendments to the Manual on the WIPPS (WMO-No. 485) and the Guide to the WIPPS (WMO-No. 305).

The meeting will also discuss prioritized tasks targeting INFCOM-5, including the development of verification frameworks for ASDF and Vegetation Fire and Smoke Pollution Forecasts (VFSP) products and the potential introduction of global-scale air quality forecasting activities within WIPPS.

In addition to the meeting, the ET-ACPS members will contribute to the Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) as subject-matter experts and leverage the presence of participants at the Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) Symposium 2026 to facilitate coordinated discussions on atmospheric composition prediction within the WMO framework. For more information about GAW including agenda can be found here, https://wmo.int/events/meeting/global-atmosphere-watch-gaw-symposium-2026.
