This event will report on the outcomes and recommendations of the Second WMO-GCF Global Forum on Climate Science Information that was hosted by the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Abu Dhabi from 10 to 12 October 2023. The Forum brought together different actors involved in the process of production of climate science information to discuss and better understand the co-design of climate services that can enable climate action.

It will gather international participants including representatives from indigenous peoples, women groups, climate scientists, UN Agencies, and the GCF, along with national decision-makers to present user needs and requirements in terms of climate science information and local experiences in the co-production of science-based solutions, including climate science information and services. The side event covers the following topics:

  • Experiences in co-designing climate services, considering engagement, feedback and learning mechanisms with the user community that can help design climate science information and services.
  • The role and value of comprehensive climate information and data portals to support effective decision-making.
