The RA VI Hydrology Community will convene for an online technical session introducing the WMO Hydrological Status and Outlook System (HydroSOS) and its evolving role in supporting operational hydrological services across the region.

The session will provide an overview of HydroSOS as a global operational framework designed to deliver harmonized hydrological status and outlook information while respecting national data sovereignty and building on existing operational systems. It will also highlight how HydroSOS integrates with broader WMO initiatives, including WHOS, WIPPS, and Early Warnings for All (EW4All), supporting improved drought and water resources information for decision-making.

Participants will be guided through the HydroSOS global architecture and product suite, including status and outlook indicators at different temporal scales. A live demonstration of the HydroSOS portal will illustrate how global, regional, and national data layers are combined to support hydrological assessments and outlook generation.

The session will also present ongoing efforts to support Members in strengthening national hydrological services, including approaches for integrating HydroSOS outputs into existing workflows, enhancing national bulletins, and improving consistency in hydrological reporting. Opportunities for onboarding and technical integration will be discussed, alongside examples of how countries can progressively align national systems with HydroSOS methodologies.

A key element of the session will be an open exchange between participants and the HydroSOS technical team, allowing Members to raise questions, share experiences, and identify practical entry points for engagement.

This online session marks the start of a broader RA VI engagement cycle on HydroSOS implementation and will be followed by further technical exchanges and regional activities aimed at strengthening operational hydrological services across Europe.
