State of Global Climate report & World Meteorological Day

Release of State of the Global Climate 2023 report

This is WMO’s flagship report and will highlight how 2023 was a record-breaking year for temperature, ocean heat, sea level rise, sea ice and glacier retreat. It also focuses on the impacts of climate change and more extreme weather on sustainable development. There are separate sections on renewable energy and climate finance.

World Meteorological Day celebrated around the world

Every 23 March, the World Meteorological Organization commemorates the coming into force of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization on 23 March 1950.

It showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and wellbeing of society and is celebrated with activities around the world. The themes chosen for World Meteorological Day reflect topical weather, climate or water-related issues.
