Tovar da Silva Nunes
Ambassador Tovar da Silva Nunes has served as Brazil's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva since 2021.
Throughout his career, he has been actively engaged in discussions on environmental and climate issues, having contributed to the preparatory process for the Rio+20 Conference. Drawing on his expertise in environmental diplomacy, he has been at the forefront of multilateral efforts in Geneva to elevate sustainable development as a crosscutting priority across various international agendas.
Ambassador Nunes has held key diplomatic postings, having served as Brazil’s Ambassador to Russia and Uzbekistan and, prior to that, Brazil’s Ambassador to India and Bhutan. He has also been posted to Geneva, Quito, London and Berlin.
His academic background includes a Law degree from the University of São Paulo, a Master’s in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics, and studies in International Relations at Harvard University. He was also a guest student at l'École Nationale d’Administration (ENA) in Paris.
