Speaker:

Dr Ingrid Super, Scientist at TNO, the Netherlands.

Overview:

Climate change is a global phenomenon that severely impacts urban life. At the same time, cities are key contributors to climate change, as urban activities are major sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, cities play an important role in reducing climate change. To support cities with their climate action plans, TNO developed guidelines to help city/local government stakeholders create city emission inventories, with a specific focus on direct GHG emissions within city boundaries. Several options are listed, ranging from a simple downscaling approach (supported by tools) to complex bottom-up calculations, so that each party can benefit, regardless of available resources. In this webinar, we will explain the guidelines and the downscaling tool and show examples of city emission data generated by that tool.
