Webinar Series on Urban Greenhouse Gas Monitoring - Mobile surveys: methane emissions across Canadian cities
Webinar date: 7/7/2026
Webinar time: 14:30-16:00 CEST
Speaker: Felix Vogel
Speaker bio: Dr. Felix Vogel is a research scientist with the Earth System Research and Integration Division at Environment and Climate Change Canada where he leads the Greenhouse Gas Research team. His work focuses on estimating greenhouse gas emissions from provincial to facility scale using atmospheric observations and atmospheric modelling tools. In recent years, he and his team focused mostly on quantifying methane emissions in Canada using mobile platforms and continuous monitoring stations, covering Western Canada, Toronto, Montreal, and dozens of landfills. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto (Department of Physics) and is a co-chair of the scientific steering committee of the World Meteorological Organization’s (WMO) Integrated Global Greenhouse Gas Information System (IG3IS).
Overview of the topic: In this webinar, Dr. Vogel will present recent results on methane emissions in urban areas as observed from the Atmospheric Composition and Environmental Studies (ACES) platform and dedicated process studies.
