José Ignacio Martínez Echenique

Multilateral Policy Officer, International Energy Agency (IEA)

José Ignacio Martínez Echenique is a policy specialist with eight years of experience across government, international organisations, and the private sector, working on energy, climate finance, and multilateral cooperation. He currently serves as a Multilateral Policy Officer at the International Energy Agency (IEA), supporting G7, G20, and COP30 engagements. He previously held senior roles in the Chilean government, led major clean energy and climate initiatives, and contributed to work at the UN’s ECLAC and the UK Transition Plan Taskforce. He also brings private-sector experience in consulting and financial analysis. José Ignacio holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
