WMC Beijing held annual conference to propel high-quality development - China Meteorological Administration

World Meteorological Centre Beijing (WMC Beijing) held the annual working conference on 9 March in Beijing. The conference reviewed the works in 2020, discussed the development priorities for next step and identified the key tasks in 2021. Mr. Yu Yong, Deputy Administrator of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) attended the conference. The achievements acquired by the WMC Beijing in 2020 are highlighted during the conference. In 2020, WMC Beijing made steady progress in improving its capabilities to perform duties, including the upgradation of GRAPES_GFS Model with the top level raised to 0.1 hPa and the operational running of the new generation of climate prediction system , diversifying much more tailored NWP products such as EFI, typhoon forcasts and CRA and S2S products, for Africa and SWFD, GMAS-A projects, providing technical support to LDCs and SIDS by the enhancement of the application of CMACast including the MICAPS and SWAP, and carrying out international training and exchanges, which strongly supported the Belt and Road Initiative.
