Lauren Stuart

Lauren Stuart is the Scientific Officer at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Driven by a lifelong passion for meteorology ignited at the age of four, Lauren’s academic journey began in the meteorological field before pivoting towards climate change and international development for her master’s.

Diverse experiences, including internships with prestigious organizations like the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and Habitat for Humanity International, equipped her with invaluable insights into international climate policy, finance, and disaster risk reduction.

Before joining the WMO, Lauren worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal, and later joined Oxfam America, where she coordinated NGO coalitions, advocated for climate justice issues, and drove policy initiatives related to adaptation, loss and damage, and climate migration. Leveraging her expertise, she has contributed to various WMO bodies, leading the production of United in Science, a vital multiagency UN report informing global climate policy.
