Annemarie Van der Avort
Annemarie Van der Avort is Director for Climate and Environment at the Belgian Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, where she leads international efforts on climate, biodiversity, and environmental policy. With over 15 years of experience in development cooperation, she combines strong policy expertise with extensive experience in multilateral negotiations, including the United Nations Environment Assembly, and the Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD). She has played a key role in coordinating Belgium’s international climate finance and building effective international partnerships. Annemarie is recognized for her ability to navigate complex policy processes, connect stakeholders, and drive impactful, sustainable outcomes at the intersection of policy and diplomacy.
