Meeting of the SERCOM SC-DRR Advisory Group on Severe Weather Forecasting (AG-SWF) (Ha Noi, 21-24 September 2026)

With the overall objective of providing technical guidance and global coordination in support of the delivery of severe weather forecasting services in various subregions, the Advisory Group on Severe Weather Forecasting (AG-SWF) (under the SERCOM/SC-DRR) mainly focuses on programme development, proposals for standards and technical guidance for WMO technical regulations in relation to SWF guidance updates, and synergy with the relevant WMO programmes and initiatives. In its meeting in Ha Noi, during 21-24 September 2026, the AG-SWF will review the progress of SWFP regional subprogrammes and the relevant Regional Specialized Meteorological Centres (RSMCs SWF) and Regional Forecast Support Centres (RFSCs)/Regional Forecast Support Facility (RFSF) (not yet RSMC SWF) & their SWF guidance products. The meeting will also review the relevant technical regulations and updates on the compliance of five RSMCs SWF as feasible and will discuss to initiate compliance review of RFSCs/RFSF as feasible.
