Second RA VI Scientific Forum delivers lasting research legacy with publication of extended abstracts
A key outcome of the Second RA VI Scientific Forum on Bridging Research and Operations in an Earth-System Approach, held in Prague from 4 to 6 November 2025, has been achieved with the publication of the Forum’s extended abstracts, now available through the WMO e-Library.
It captures the scientific contributions presented during the Forum, including extended abstracts from oral and poster presentations, together with the list of participants. It provides a lasting record of the research, innovation, and collaboration that brought together the scientific and operational communities of WMO Region VI.
The Second RA VI Scientific Forum created a platform for advancing dialogue between research and operations, supporting the exchange of knowledge needed to strengthen Earth-system understanding and improve weather, climate, water, and related services. The published extended abstracts represent an important step in ensuring that the outcomes of these discussions remain accessible and continue to support regional cooperation.
The publication reflects the valuable contributions of presenters and participants, whose expertise helped showcase new research developments, innovative approaches, and opportunities to further connect scientific advances with operational applications.
This achievement contributes to the implementation of the Regional Research Group plan and supports WMO Strategic Objective 3.1: “Advance scientific knowledge of the Earth system.” By communicating research outcomes and strengthening knowledge exchange, the publication contributes to building a more integrated approach to Earth-system science across the Region.
The Forum’s outcomes will continue to support the “United in Science, Research & Innovations” vision for regional collaboration, with future activities focusing on sharing research achievements, promoting innovation, and highlighting policy-relevant recommendations. The publication also provides a foundation for continued engagement ahead of the next Regional Scientific Forum, planned for 2027.
