China’s First International Exchange Centre for Earth System Data Launches Construction

On the same day, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), the Macau Special Administrative Region and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone signed a framework agreement on co-development. Under the agreement, the Earth System Data International Exchange Center (Macao) will be built in Hengqin with a three-year construction phase followed by a three-year operational phase.

Dubbed the “new oil” of the intelligent era, Earth system data features full geographic coverage, pervasive application and round-the-clock availability. Integrated into a wide range of production and daily-life scenarios, it has emerged as a core factor of production and vital resource underpinning digital economic growth.
