International Summer School Program on Climate Change and Related Risks 2026 Session: Climate Change, Cities and Anthropogenic Impacts

The 2026 International Summer School Program on Climate Change and Related Risks will be held at Fudan University, Shanghai, China, from July 6 to July 24, 2026, with a special focus on Climate Change, Cities and Anthropogenic Impacts.
This prestigious program is supported by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Monitoring, Analysis, and Prediction of Air Quality International Research Program (MAP-AQ), and the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk International Program (IRDR).
The 2026 session will be organized by Fudan University's Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (AOS), the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences (IAS), the World Meteorological Organization Global Atmosphere Watch Programme (WMO/GAW), the World Meteorological Organization World Weather Research Programme (WMO/WWRP), the MAP-AQ Asian Office Shanghai and the IRDR International Centre of Excellence on Risk Interconnectivity and Governance on Weather/Climate Extremes Impact and Public Health (ICoE-RIG-WECEIPHE).
Following the 2024 session on Climate Change and Air Quality and the 2025 session on Human Activity and Weather/Climate Extremes, this year’s program will focus on Climate Change, Cities and Anthropogenic Impacts. Four modules are structured: (a) Climate change and urban climate effects, (b) Extreme weather events and their impacts, (c) Atmospheric environment and eco-health impacts, (d) AI-enabled sustainable development and climate resilience.
The teaching language will be English.
The summer school is tuition-free, but participants are responsible for their own transportation, health insurance, accommodation, and living expenses. Limited scholarships are available to support local expenses.
