The Weather in Germany in May 2020 - Deutscher Wetterdienst
In May 2020, northern and eastern Germany were often exposed to fresh and breezy sea air with only a few occasional showers. The south was repeatedly affected by troughs bringing heavy precipitation as well as warm and cool air in alternation. The west was mainly under the influence of high pressure, resulting in dry weather and lots of sunshine. Due to this threefold division, the weather in May was overall slightly too cool, significantly too dry and very sunny, with a few severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail and gale-force gusts. This has been announced by the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) after an initial analysis of the observations from its approximately 2000 measuring stations.
