One of the thematic pillars for the European Forum on Disaster Risk Reduction (EFDRR) is accelerating implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments online platform (VC platform) allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR while identifying crossovers with others in the field and potential partners with whom to collaborate to maximise impact.

The Sendai Framework recognizes that in addition to the primary responsibility by States to reduce disaster risk, we also need stakeholders commitment, goodwill, knowledge, experience and resources to boost the construction of resilient societies around the world. In this session, Risn Jordan (Alliance Manchester Business School), Luis Carvalho (Municipality of Amadora), and Idan Sasson (Climate Policy Initiative) share their work on DRR.

Intersecting key topics such as recovery from COVID-19, Sendai Target E (DRR strategies) at the local level, and finance for resilient development, the speakers will touch upon the importance of stakeholders in Europe to learn from others (who is doing what and where) and collaborate through the VC platform.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful tool to know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables. Good practices and achievements will be highlighted through the online platform.
