Jenny Frankel-Reed supports climate adaptation strategy, integration, and programs in the Agricultural Development team at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She develops partnerships and investments that accelerate adaptation for smallholder farmers. Focus areas include delivering weather and climate analytics for ag risk management, increasing private investment in smallholder ag, and support for increased leadership of research and policy agendas by Global South organizations.
Jenny was previously a team leader and senior advisor with USAID’s Climate Office and Center for Resilience, providing strategic input and leadership to USAID’s Adaptation portfolio and the SERVIR program, a joint initiative with NASA to help developing countries access and apply Earth science and satellite data to the resilience challenges they face in agriculture, water, disasters, land use, ecosystems, and climate.
Climate ChaneAreas of expertise include climate adaptation, sustainable agriculture, climate services, climate finance, vulnerability assessment, management of strategies, teams, and programs, grantmaking and contracting, innovative partnerships, and Earth observation data applications to decision-making. She has provided technical assistance to programs in the U.S. and 22 countries and regions across Asia, Latin America, and Africa.
