Statement on WMO El Niño/La Niña Update
“We need to prepare for a potentially strong El Niño event – which will exacerbate drought and heavy rainfall and increase the risk of heatwaves both on land and in the ocean. Advance seasonal forecasts and early warnings are vital to save lives and cushion the impact on our economies and our communities.”
WMO Commons
The WMO Commons is a pooled financing mechanism that sustains, strengthens and modernizes the globally mandated backbone of weather, climate and water intelligence.
Severe Weather Information Centre
The Centre enhances the availability of authoritative warnings for extreme and/or potentially high-impact weather, water and climate events from WMO Members.
Early Warnings for All
The Early Warnings for All initiative was launched in 2022 to ensure that everyone on Earth receives life-saving early warnings for hazardous weather, water or climate events by the end of 2027.
