Ahmed Amdihun

Dr. Ahmed Amdihun is the Regional Programme Manager for Disaster Risk Management at IGAD's Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC). He leads the IGAD Disaster Risk Management program, oversees a team of experts, and manages the regional IGAD multi-hazard situation room. His roles include climate resilience programming, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), consultations with IGAD member states, and providing technical and policy advice to IGAD management.
With over 13 years of experience, Dr. Ahmed has expertise in climate resilience, DRR, environmental system modeling, spatial planning, and capacity development. Prior to IGAD, he worked with organizations like the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Addis Ababa University, International Water Management Institute, and International Livestock Research Institute. He has also served as an advisory board member for initiatives like the Risk Informed Early Action Partnership and the Anticipation Hub.
