The Conference

A single white hot air balloon floats above the clouds in a clear sky at sunrise or sunset, with the sun visible on the horizon.
The goal of the conference is to strengthen the WIGOS measurement community by enhancing knowledge and understanding of observing and measurement techniques, methodologies, and associated quality management and traceability procedures for measurements, sharing information on the latest developments in instrumentation and measurement techniques, and fostering collaboration among WIGOS stakeholders, including National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs), public and private agencies, manufacturers, research institutions, and academia. 

The conference will:

  • Enable the exchange of experiences and achievements in operational measurement practices as well as, instrument calibration and, uncertainty evaluation
  • Support the transition of the latest technologies and techniques from research projects to operations through harmonized and standardized measurement practices,
  • Promote environmentally sustainable observing systems through awareness-raising and the sharing of best practices and recent developments,
  • Provide opportunities for direct interaction within the WIGOS measurement community, including manufacturers, industry, and partner organizations,
  • Contribute to and foster knowledge transfer, training and capacity development, particularly for participants from developing and least developed countries,
  • Share measurement practices and technologies that support WMO priority initiatives, including Early Warnings for All (EW4All), Global Basic Observing Network (GBON) and and Global Greenhouse Gas Watch (G3W).
