Joint Meeting of the Research Board and Scientific Advisory Panel
Geneva, Switzerland
Overview
The joint meeting of the Research Board (RB) and Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) provided an opportunity to foster collaboration between the two bodies that advise on the scientific planning and implementation, and to discuss topics of joint interest at a time when science is rapidly evolving in a changing global context. In particular, RB and SAP members discussed the SAP’s work on emerging topics, collaboration on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the opportunities for joint communication activities to elevate the importance of science and research.
Summary of Key Outcomes
A small group of RB and SAP members and relevant Secretariat staff will be formed to review the terms of references of both bodies, identify duplication or gaps, evaluate the pros and cons of merging the RB and SAP and consider what a mandate of a joint body would look like.
