MetService and TOA Systems collaborate on world-first
30 juillet 2018
MetService New Zealand is pioneering the first-ever South Pacific-wide lightning detection network in partnership with TOA Systems, Inc, a leading global provider of lightning detection solutions. In South Pacific countries, lightning information from the SPLN will assist with forecasting and monitoring of events by National Meteorological Services. Disaster response agencies in these countries will also have an increased ability to mitigate the impacts of lightning through awareness and education.  Read more >>

$11.5 million grant to help safeguard New Zealand’s blue economy - MetService New Zealand

A new research project spearheaded by MetService’s oceanography division, MetOcean Solutions will shed new light on the performance of New Zealand’s oceans to support the seafood sector. The Moana Project was today awarded $11.5 million over five years from the Government’s Endeavour Fund. MetService Chief Executive Officer Peter Lennox says the grant is an endorsement of the capability and expertise that exists within MetService, and the contribution the State-owned enterprise is continuing to make in advancing the knowledge of New Zealand industry and communities.
