The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) invites participants to the inaugural global meeting of its Youth Focal Points, marking an important step in strengthening youth engagement across the climate, weather and water community. The event will take place online on 12 May 2026 from 12:00 to 13:00 CET.

Under the 2026 theme “Youth in Action,” this first global convening will bring together Youth Focal Points from WMO Members, regional structures and the Secretariat. The meeting will introduce the network, clarify its role within WMO’s mandate, and begin building a shared direction for engagement throughout the year. Regional Youth Focal Points will offer perspectives from their respective regions, highlighting evolving challenges, capacity needs, and the importance of strengthening youth participation in national systems.

The session will also present the WMO Youth Action Plan (2025 to 2027) and outline the roadmap for 2026, including upcoming regional and thematic meetings, as well as opportunities for learning and collaboration. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the network’s purpose and contribute to building early momentum for implementation across the wider WMO community.

This inaugural meeting marks the beginning of a collective effort to ensure that youth are actively shaping the future of climate, weather and water services worldwide.
