About the session
ACMAD plays a key role within the WMO Integrated Processing and Prediction System (WIPPS) as a Regional Climate Centre (RCC) with an Africa continental coverage, supporting the subregional RCCs in West (AGRHYMET), Central (CAPC-AC), Horn/East (ICPAC), Southern (SADC-CSC) and South-West Indian Ocean (SWIO) regions.
ACMAD also supports National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) for advisories, as well as other regional partners (including African Union Commission AUC, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs OCHA, Pan-African Farmers' Organization PAFO, etc.) with climate services, forecasting, capacity development, and technical guidance.
During this session, Dr Ndiaye will provide an overview of ACMAD’s evolving role and discuss how projects and partnerships strengthen its ability to support countries across Africa and respond to the needs of WMO Members.
