WMO and COPE Disaster Champions

In the context of the Early Warnings for All Initiative, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) actively supports the COPE Disaster Champions in empowering children with knowledge on climate crisis and disaster risk reduction.

COPE, a series of illustrated not-for-profit books, aims to enhance the disaster resilience of children worldwide. COPE’s mission is to educate children, enabling them to become Disaster Champions to respond effectively to disasters and serve as role models in their communities.

As a long-standing scientific advisor for the COPE series, WMO provides scientific guidance, and facilitates connections between COPE with other UN organizations, National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs), and academia.

The COPE disaster series represents WMO’s special contribution to Early Warnings for All Pillar 1: Disaster Risk Knowledge.
