The World Meteorological Organization Hurricane Committee (North America, Central America and Caribbean, Regional Association IV) holds its annual session 15-17 March to review the record-breaking 2020 Atlantic season and to prepare for the forthcoming season. It will also decide on the naming convention, including the retirement of names of hurricanes which were particularly deadly or damaging.

There will be a virtual media conference immediately after the conclusion of the annual session.

WHEN:

1530 (3:30 p.m.) EDT, Wednesday, March 17

WHAT:

Virtual media conference to discuss decisions made by the WMO RA-IV hurricane committee. The briefing will be followed by a Q&A session.

Evan Thompson, President of WMO’s Regional Association for North America, Central America and the Caribbean and Director of Jamaica Meteorological Service.

Kenneth Graham, Hurricane Committee Chair, Director of US National Hurricane Center.

Jose Rubiera, Hurricane Committee Vice Chair, Instituto de Meorologia (Cuba), will take questions in Spanish.
