Daouda Konate

Daouda Konate was elected First Vice-President of WMO by the Nineteenth World Meteorological Congress in 2023 for a four-year term beginning immediately after the closure of the Congress-19. This is his first term as First Vice-President of WMO.

Daouda Konate has more than 23 years of experience in meteorology, and he had many responsibilities, met many challenges, and took on ever-increasing commitments to the WMO community.

Mr Konate is closely involved in the activities of WMO having served as vice-president of Regional Association I (Africa) from 2015 to 2019 and president of Regional Association I (Africa) from 2019 to 2023. He is a Member of the Executive Council since 2015. He served as President of ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States), the Meteorology Directors Committee from 2012 to 2014, Co-chair of the CREWS Steering Committee, and Member of « Food System Resilience Program (FSRP) » Technical and Scientific Committee for West Africa. 

Mr Konate began his four-year term as First Vice-President immediately after the closure of the Nineteenth World Meteorological Congress (Cg-19) in May 2023.
